Iceland has declared a state of emergency as a volcano erupted for the 4th time in 3 months.

There was already a warning given due to magma accumulating underground.

Though there is no risk to people, but Toxic gas can be created if the Lava reaches the sea.

There are approximately 32 active volcanoes in Iceland.

Iceland experiences a volcanic eruption every five years.

In 2010, air travel to Europe was disrupted due to the ash released by the volcanic erruption.

But why there are so many volcanic erruption in Iceland?

Iceland is situated on a tectonic ridge, which results in seismic activity.

The Tectonic plates are moving apart in opposite directions.

This is causing magma from the Earth's subsurface to rise and fill the gap.
